Verdun went from being tactical and based on maneuver to masses of players walking into bullets and not having much choice for maneuver. Most Verdun maps are quite small with not much cover between the trenches. The vast majority of Verdun maps were clearly not designed for that many people. 64 player mode seemed like a fun idea at first, but after playing a few matches the game feels a lot more repetitive, predictable and stale. Therefore, bots were removed from Rising Storm 2. In their new release, Rising Storm 2, the developers realized that adding bots to multiplayer matches is more of a nuissance and frustration for players than a benefit. In Rising Storm/Red Orchestra, the game was designed for 64 players, and bots are added in to compensate for missing players. Another game which I am quite fond of is the Rising Storm/Red Orchestra series. Also, Verdun already has a coop mode where players could fight bots, so adding bots to multiplayer matches seems redundant.
Verdun updates series#
For example, the Insurgency series has a multiplayer PVP mode and a multiplayer coop mode against bots. However, many FPS games do choose to include a coop game mode where you play against bots. However, playing against bots is dreadfully boring and repetitive, and almost no modern FPS games have bots in multiplayer matches. Section One: Bots have been added to the new 64 player game mode in order to compensate for not enough players being present on the map. I am going to explain this in three sections. To tell the truth, I have almost completely lost all interest in the game since the new update.
Verdun updates update#
However, it is my opinion that the Winter Update has brought more bad than good. Personally, I was willing to give the game a chance without jumpshooting, even though I was quite fond of the tactic. I understood why some players wanted to keep it, and why some players wanted it gone. When I heard that jumpshooting was being removed from the game, I was apprehensive.
I have been thinking about the new Verdun updates a lot because to me, Verdun was once my favorite game in my steam library. Removing jumpshooting, adding bots and 64 player game mode, and the new UI have all brought criticism and praise from fans of the game. The latest Verdun update was pretty controversial.
